"BATTLE OF THE BLADES" is a fierce athletic competition filled with grace and drama. It takes 8 of Canada's elite Olympic and world famous female figure skaters and teams them up with eight of the NHL's greatest hockey players. Hosted by legendary sports broadcaster (Hockey Night in Canada) Ron McLean and four-time World and Canadian champ Kurt Browning, Battle of the Blades is the ultimate pair's figure skating showdown. The series takes place over seven weeks and 14 episodes. Each week the pairs take to the ice and train with world-class choreographers and coaches. The pairs experience extreme highs and lows throughout the process of coming up with a new routine every week. Viewers vote for their favourite pairs and the bottom two teams are revealed in the dramatic results show which consists of a skate-off, and ultimately, the three judges decide which of the bottom two teams will be eliminated. Each week, the eliminated pair will donate $25,000 to the charity of their choice. The winning pair will be chosen by viewer votes and will donate $100,000 to their favourite charity.
